The Subtle Knife
Jun. 9th, 2009 03:01 pmI'm reading Phillip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy, and loving it. I love the main character, she's so unique. Rather than the daydreaming, wishful little girl, she's a very realistic little girl, and a practiced liar.
Now that I'm done the second book, I see what they were talking about with the religious controversy. It's about as religiously controversial as you can get. I can't really think of what you could do that would be more religiousl controversial, as far as christianity goes, anyway. Unbelievable how much of that didn't make it into the movie.
And as I got to the last few chapters on the bus today, one of my favourite characters died. Died well and poignantly, and I actually cried and had to put the book down for a few hours.
