I'm reading Phillip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy, and loving it. I love the main character, she's so unique. Rather than the daydreaming, wishful little girl, she's a very realistic little girl, and a practiced liar.

Now that I'm done the second book, I see what they were talking about with the religious controversy. It's about as religiously controversial as you can get. I can't really think of what you could do that would be more religiousl controversial, as far as christianity goes, anyway. Unbelievable how much of that didn't make it into the movie.

And as I got to the last few chapters on the bus today, one of my favourite characters died. Died well and poignantly, and I actually cried and had to put the book down for a few hours.

If you haven't already bought the third book, I can lend it to you.

I finished the series recently and absolutely loved it. I fell in love with almost all the characters by the end.

I do have the third one, but I left it at home when I left for portage, not thinking I'd finish the subtle knife. I picked them all up at the same time, it's just taken me a while to get through them; a lot of my reading time has been taken up with writing.
