I had a Thought today....

Researching for my current WIP, and at the same time talking with the DH about keycon, I suddenly thought "Keycon needs to have a steampunk hospitality suite!"
This is something that will probably be several years in planning and collecting the necessary items and knowledge in order to effectively pull it off. And it's not something I could do without having a basement to keep all that shiat. At which the DH was infinitely relieved to have the subject essentially tabled until a house is purchased. There will be learnings and plannings and apprenticeships to turtles, if the turtle should agree.

Current best setup I've heard of, outside of our own lightweight plastic + macktack, is to use spring loaded shower curtain rods to pressure-hold boards up against the ceiling so you can then drape cloth and/or nail things to them. It's hard to make things pretty with no walls.
Btw - invited you to the SD mailing list, so you can be in on plannings, etc. for the suite.
