Six Things You Don't Know About Me

Ok, Lee has tagged me for this six things you don't know about me thing. I've hummed and hawed about how much to reveal, but here goes:
1. I can dance flamenco. I haven't been able to take any lessons in a while, but I love it. It's like meditation, because you have to concentrate so hard, it blocks everything else out.
2. I love putting makeup on. It's art to me. Such that I don't often bother at all unless I'm going to do a proper job. I'll spend an hour doing it, just cause it's fun. And I get so pissed when they discontinue my favourite eyeshadow. And blush. And frickin mascara. You know the kind with the teeny tiny wand? Yeah, they don't make that anymore. Bastards.
3. I unfocus my eyes when I'm talking to people sometimes, so that I don't have to look at their faces. I do this when I'm tired, or stressed, or feel threatened. It's an autistic thing - faces hold a lot of information, and it can get to be too much.
4. My complexion bothers me. I know I'm attractive, but just like everybody else, there's that one thing that I've tried everything to fix, and it was getting a lot better this summer since I started something new, but here comes exams, and the stress makes my face break out like crazy. I hate it.
5. I fantasize about pain. Still. This is something I've found comforting since about junior high when life started getting really bad. At the worst I would fantasize about dying, but I still somehow find it comforting sometimes when I'm frustrated. It helps me sleep.
6. I'll put this one down, but sadly it's something that you can never really know: how much I love Nathan.

Date: 2006-10-31 08:22 am (UTC)I used to wear sunglasses all the time to avoid having to look people in the eye and I still unconsciously avoid eye contact with most people unless I absolutely need to, or I trust them. I'm always paranoid they'll see some weakness in my eyes and pounce on it.
Love isn't best measured in quantities, but in qualities and nuances. How much you love someone isn't as important as how you love them. You can love someone excessively, compulsively and in a way that poisons your personality and love them a hell of a lot that way. Or you can love someone respectfully, gently and with a quiet pervasive power that is awe inspiring, but not very big or demonstrative. I can not know how much you love him, but I have seen respect and tenderness from the both of you towards each other, and that is truly precious.
