There have been a few people on my flist who try very hard to be understanding with Nathan and his being sick, and I noticed the point where my friends started asking "So how's Nathan feeling?" rather than "So how come Nathan's not here?" And I want those people to know we both appreciate it. It's a difficult illness to understand, and nearly impossible to know how severely life-impacting it is.
And then on the net, there's some misinformation out there. Some doctors still don't believe it is a real disease (mainly the ones being paid by insurance companies to deny us disability benefits). These doctors say you just have to try harder and will yourself through it. You're doing it to yourself, sleeping too much. Then they send people to motivational speakers that do nothing.
Anyway, ABC had a short segment, which has a doctor giving an accurate account: http://abcnews.go.com/Video/playerIndex?id=8664151
