Random realization

I've just realized, expanding a scene in the Eyelet Dove, that every time the main character Maddie gets in trouble, she ends up wet. Whether it's getting water dumped on her by spiteful aristracratic, prats, taking a dunk in the river to escape soldiers, or being woken up from having been knocked out in the course of being arrested by a bucket of water in her face. Every time. This was completely unintentional. I'm sure it means something, but I'm not sure what, other than the obvious Freudian allegory that will be first to everyone's mind.
