First major rewrite
Jul. 8th, 2008 07:17 pmMy thoughts are getting all mixed up again and i need to go ahead and make all the changes I resolved to leave for when I started rewrites. I think it's ready anyway. I have enough written that I can see where the most natural place would be to break off Book one. So I'll do a rewrite of book one, and then I'll continue on with book two.
I will follow the advice of a published author I spoke to once. When you do a rewrite, do it in a separate file, and type it all again, don't try to do it by editing the original document. Anything that isn't worth typing a second time isn't worth keeping in the story. And starting, I can see exactly why this is good advice. Editing affects the flow of the prose, but rewriting it completely settles everything nicely.
Once I have rewritten Book one, then I can attempt to sell it. Or, in other words, I have no more excuses to not send it to a publisher.
