A Great Writer departed for Summer Country

Apparently Lloyd Alexander died today. He was probably my third favourite writer (next to Jaqueline Carey and Peter S. Beagle.) For those who don't know, he wrote young adult novels, the most famous of which has to be the Prydain Chronicles, including the Black Cauldron (Which was made into a really bad movie that I don't intend to see.)

In other, more uplifting news, Peter S. Beagle can now set a nebula award next to his hugo, both for his novella, "two hearts."
